about

mark tropea, chef/owner, is a native of the philadelphia suburbs. mark graduated rom the restaurant school at walnut hill college in 2002. from there he worked at the desmond hotel and conference center in great valley, pa, where he served for seven years as executive sous chef.

sonata restaurant is the result of his study and dedication to the culinary arts. he chose the name ‘sonata’ because it represents a piece of music composed to be played, rather than sung. just as a musician conveys their thoughts and feelings through a piece of music, a chef expresses the same through their cooking and presentations.
